While the MBTI is a popular assessment tool, I find that understanding its core dimensions—like Introversion vs. Extroversion or Sensing vs. Intuition—offers a powerful lens for maximizing your personal wellness. Here's a Myers-Briggs Indicator test for those new to the framework.  For those new to MBTI but aware of personality assessments from work/HR or therapeutic settings I want to address the school of thought which renders MBTI meaningless or even tawdry. 

Personally I am a Jungian practitioner in my own inner work.  Myers-Briggs is inspired by Carl Jung's ideas on personality and psychological types.  Jungian work by the individual is devised to bring about individuation.  Understanding psychological types gives a deeper understanding of one's consciousness and unconscious mind prompting resolution of inner conflict.  My understanding of individuation really matured with reading all of Jung's works and I believe that both Man and His Symbols as well as The Undiscovered Self are the most generous tools.

I want to point out that I personally was only abl to successfully sublimate after taking a real inventory of my stressors and processing the emotions. For instance I often found that my anger was rooted in the anger from childhood which itself upon careful inspection flourished because I was a latch - key kid and constantly neglected.
