Darling, let's be honest. For some, a closet is just storage. For me? It’s a profligate, rewarding, and intimate hobby. Forget your little vision boards. Style is understated heroism. It’s the most ancient technology we have for self-communication.
Building the Brand
You see the entrepreneur, but you don't see the curriculum vitae: Valley Girl, mixed-race, stepchild, individual contributor. The list of dubious honors goes on. For years, I had to exorcise the shadows of those labels. That process gave my style its unhinged quality—and yes, it is absolutely contagious.
THE AESTHETIC: Duality and Flair
My closet is a perpetual, tense duality. It’s the easy Americana of my white side, juxtaposed with the flair and precision of my Asian heritage. I’m Gen X but Millennial, cis and hetero, yet I adhere to gay psychology and LGBTQ activism. My style is simply the only honest expression of that beautiful, chaotic truth.
THE VISION: Fashion as Global Impact
My ultimate fantasy? A fashion takeover. I want a ticket to every New York Fashion Week—Fall and Spring—and I'm giving every American political party a much-needed makeover. Next, I’m storming Art Basel Miami to link every major label to a revolutionary new artist, that beautiful kind of chaos where Banksy meets Warhol. And finally, I will host a landmark beauty pageant in Manila, the capital of pageantry, to honor my mother’s homeland.
