Gym no More - Daylife, Earlybirds, and House of Yes Forever

The Gym was everything in my fitness tool set only ten years ago.  Once I turned 42 there was just not enough time to participate in all gym life had to offer.  Equinox was my preferred gym and I found myself unable to abide by the no cell phone use and demanding need to carry a gym bag around at all times.

Since then I have found hiking, taking the steps at work, and urban jogging the best fitness routines that I can incrementally make into my life.  However, I miss group fitness so so much.  Recently I have found a surge in fitness and movement apps that are so much more well suited to the personal fitness routine I have in mind.   The best options I have found so far are: SweatPals, Earlybirds, and House of Yes.

Hempmeh is a wellness focused e-commerce site and  its important to us that all of the visitors here are given resources for their fitness and wellness routines. Just as a side note I have invested just as much time into my psychological dexterity and overall wellness these days as I do into my physical fitness. This tweak has probably increased my overall life satisfaction than any single habit alone.

However, movement is the most likely of all wellness habits to succeed when executed with companions, tribe or group.  In this sense it might just be one of the most sacred habits of humanity.  Let me breakdown each of the Movement and fitness brands that I mentioned before.  Starting with House of Yes.  This is a nightclub based in Brooklyn.  While living outside of NYC creates barriers to enjoying this particular fitness option, their brand and movement philosophy is so inspiring and aspirational I still include it on my list as I periodically review their photo collections to get excited about dancing and moving.

House of Yes from "What we believe"

"We have created this space as a temple of expression dedicated to connection, creativity and celebrating life.

We believe that performance, dance and art can inspire and heal us.

We believe in the creative energy of every person who enters this space.

We believe the world can be a better place.

We believe that weird is wonderful. See you on the dance floor."

SweatPals

They are simply THE most complete aggregator of fitness and movement activities of any platform out there right now. Also they include virtual events which may seem rather at odds with getting out there and sweating but there is a virtual run club for instance which I tune into while I am running and it really gets me to commit on running regularly.  Really like the focus on socializing while carving out time to move and sweat.

Virtual fitness events can also include:

  • Soma Meditation Club
  • Online Pilates
  • Ballet Flow Online fitness (featured below)

Finally, I want to share EarlyBirds Club.  This is one of those special events that is incredibly appealing if you are in the mood for just maximum fluff. The concept actually sounds boring to be honest because the focus is on female only clubbing at reasonable hours.  Upon first interaction with EarlyBirds I thought why would you want to go clubbing or to a rave that was not in the middle of the night with all types of crazy guys and girls.  In my experience that is THE best part of clubbing.  However after a bit more reflection and understanding of the premise I am quite moved by the appeal of  EarlyBirds.

Honestly clubbing is also about getting goofy and loose with just a roomful of good time seekers.

I hope this collection of fitness  is a reason to get up and move today or tomorrow.  Honestly, the main goal of Hempmeh is to be an ongoing voice of health and humor in our community's online time.  Movement is going to change your life so prioritize the act and use any of these tools while your at it.  Thank you!
